Assessing COVID-19’S Impacts On Manpower
Our industry, like many others, has been greatly affected by COVID-19. From the very start of the pandemic, there was fear surrounding what impacts the virus would have on construction firms. And these concerns grew as we watched the crisis spread throughout the world, wreaking havoc on years of economic and industrial growth.
But like the influential leader, Benjamin Disraeli once said, “There is no education like adversity.”
And I cannot agree more. I have been inspired by the industry’s overall response and resilience when it comes to the novel coronavirus. I am especially impressed with our teams working on Bozzuto Construction jobsites. Over the past few months, they have encountered many onsite challenges — specifically related to manpower and productivity — but they rose to the occasion and overcame these hardships. Thanks to their efforts, our company is stronger than ever.

Projects Still Progressing Amid COVID-19
In addition to starting construction on four new developments since March, Bozzuto Construction continued to make progress this Spring on our other active projects. Following are a few highlights.
In March, our Ainger Place project reached substantial completion. Located in Washington, DC, Ainger Place is a new mid-rise Enterprise Green community with 72 affordable units and amenities. Project owners include The Michael’s Organization, Emmanuel Baptist Church, and Ainger Place Development Corporation, and the renovation was designed by Kitchen and Associates.
In April, the second building of the multi-phase Faraday Park project in Reston, VA topped-out. Owned by Rooney Properties and designed by MV+A, this new 407-unit mixed-use community is pursuing NGBS Green Bronze level and will be completed in 2021.
In May, the renovation of Jericho Residences in Landover, MD finished ahead-of-schedule and under budget. Bozzuto Construction built the new residential community for Jericho Senior Living L.P. in 2009 before completing the recent 120-unit renovation, which was designed by Arel Architects, Inc.

Donating N95 Masks to Health Care Providers
Bozzuto Construction recently donated N95 masks to the health care workers at Stop and Shop Pharmacy, HC General, Carroll Hospital, CRNP, Sinai Hospital, Montgomery General, Children’s National Medical Center, Buckingham’s Choice and Capital Women’s Care.
With limited personal protective equipment, the health care providers at Capital Women’s Care, the OB-GYN practice pictured, have been treating expectant mothers that are suspected of having COVID-19 or have tested positive for it. They were grateful for BCC’s donation, remarking that it was generous, thoughtful and gives them hope again.Learn more about Bozzuto Construction
